Processing Times by Country (from Dubai, 2026)

Based on our experience processing hundreds of Schengen visa applications from Dubai this year, here are the actual processing times we have observed:

Italy: 5 to 8 working days — consistently the fastest from Dubai. Appointments are also relatively easy to get.

Spain: 7 to 10 working days — fast processing and high approval rate for UAE residents.

France: 8 to 12 working days — slightly longer but offers multi-year visas more frequently.

Czech Republic: 7 to 10 working days — underrated option with good processing times.

Austria: 10 to 12 working days — reliable and straightforward.

Germany: 10 to 15 working days — thorough processing, good for strong applicants.

Netherlands: 10 to 15 working days — standard processing, strict on documentation.

Switzerland: 10 to 15 working days — non-Schengen rules but similar process.

Fastest Overall: Italy

If speed is your top priority and you have flexibility in your destination, Italy is the best choice from Dubai. The Italian consulate in the UAE processes applications quickly, appointments are available within 1 to 2 weeks, and the approval rate is high for UAE residents with stable employment.

Best for Multi-Year Visa: France

If you travel to Europe frequently, France is the best option. They are known for issuing 2 to 5 year multiple-entry visas to UAE residents, especially those with previous Schengen travel history. The processing takes a bit longer but the longer visa validity makes it worth the wait.

Worst Time to Apply

June to August is peak season. Processing times double at most embassies. If you are planning a summer trip, apply in March or April. The earlier you apply (you can apply up to 6 months before travel), the faster you will get your visa.

Appointment Availability by Country

Getting a VFS appointment is sometimes harder than the visa itself. Italy has the most available slots in Dubai. Spain and France fill up 2 to 3 weeks in advance during peak season. Germany appointments are limited and book out quickly. Czech Republic and Austria often have same-week availability. At Al Baron Tourism, we monitor appointment availability daily and can often secure slots faster than self-applicants.

Multiple Entry Likelihood by Country

France leads in issuing multi-year visas to UAE residents. Italy gives generous validity periods on first applications. Spain typically matches your requested travel dates. Germany issues conservative validity initially but extends on subsequent applications. For the best chance of a multi-year visa, apply to France with a strong profile and previous travel history.

Our Country Recommendation

There is no universal best country. It depends on your nationality, travel dates, urgency, and whether you want single or multiple entry. Contact our visa team and we will analyse your specific situation to recommend the optimal country for fastest processing and highest approval probability.

FAQs

Can I apply to an easy country and then visit a different one? Technically you must apply to your main destination. Applying to an easy country and visiting a different one can cause problems on future applications.

Does the embassy I apply to affect my next application? Yes. If you apply to Italy and travel successfully, your next Italian application will be even faster. Building a history with one country helps.

What if I need to visit 3 countries equally? Apply to the first country of entry. Or apply to the one with the fastest processing if all nights are equal.
